THE NOTTINGHAM MILE CHALLENGE

ENTRIES

The minimum age to enter the Mile Challenge is 4 years old. Younger children pushed by a paying adult in a buggy, pushchair or wheelchair can take part and must be accompanied at all times in any category. Children under 11 years must have an accompanying paying adult with them at all times.

No. Although we will publish accompanying adults results separately they will not be part of the overall results of this category.

Any participant who requires a helping hand around the course is welcome to bring a friend or family member free of charge. Please enter your category first  then email your request to info@goldlineevents.co.uk with your surname and race reference number.

Yes. Your four legged friend can help you around the course, however man's best friend must be on a lead at all times and be used to running in a crowd. If you are not sure please contact info@goldlineevents.co.uk

Not at all. Entry to the Nottingham Mile Challenge is open to all, regardless of age or ability. We encourage everyone to take part in all categories as we want our event to be as inclusive as possible.

No. Entries to the Nottingham Mile Challenge are non transferable under any circumstances. If a person is found to be running in another runners bib, then they face disqualification and potentially refused entry into future races.

If a category is not sold out you can enter on the day at the Help Desk from 08.30am.

The entry fee on the day will be £15 for one run. Entries close 20 minutes before the start of each category.

Yes. Groups of 10 or more participants can enter together and pay by one invoice, please email info@goldlineevents.co.uk to apply for a group entry.

RUN INFORMATION

The first category starts at 10.30am, with the rest of the categories following in waves. We recommend everyone arrives by 10.00am to take advantage of the facilities in the Race Village.

It is estimated that the runs will finish around 1pm. The Race Village is open till 3pm.

We welcome all sorts of mobility aids on the course.

The emphasis is on FUN and inclusivity. It's about coming together to support each other in a series of mile runs. However, it can be competitive if you want it to be as each category will be chip timed.

No there are no cut-off times. Everyone will be given the time they need to finish the race.

Yes. Each category will be a maximum size to ensure the race is safe for all abilities to take part.

If we exceed the capacity of a category we will split the category into multiple runs to ensure everyone has a great time in a safe environment.

Yes All categories will be chip timed and the results will be published on our website later on the day.

If you have bought your own place no, but we encourage everyone to fundraise for one of our official charities and support the essential work they do.

FACILITIES

Yes. The main baggage tent on the Race Village will be open from 9am. Your baggage label will be in your race pack as a separate tag, this will be the same number as your race bib. Be sure to keep this label safe, loss of your baggage label will not only delay your start but also delay the collection of your bag. When you arrive please place your label in a prominent position on your bag before you get to the baggage tent.

To retrieve your bag at the end of the run all you have to do is show your running bib at the baggage tent.

Please note: Whilst we will do our utmost to protect your bags, organisers cannot be held responsible for valuables left in the baggage tent - you leave all belongings at your own risk.

There will be plenty to do and see on the Race Village including family entertainment and fun activities, there's also lots of tasty food and a bar to keep you hydrated.

Yes. We want to see your friends and family on the day to support you and enjoy the pre and post run entertainment and all the facilities in the Race Village. Everyone is welcome and encouraged, including your four legged friends!

Yes A free-to-view area accessible for wheelchairs and other equipment will be provided in a prime position, close to the start/finish line. This will be on a first come first served basis, and is not pre-booked. If large groups of disabled spectators wish to pre-arrange access to the area please contact us and we will do our best to help.

The nature of the Nottingham Mile Challenge means there will be lots of people and noise around Victoria Embankment. However, we are aware that some people can become anxious in large crowds. With this in mind, there will be quiet areas in the Race Village for anyone looking for a quiet space.

Yes. A limited amount of free car parking and blue badge parking will be available on part of the Recreation Ground on Victoria Embankment (NG2 2JY) on a first come first served basis.

As the car park entrance on Victoria Embankment is on the course there are entry and exit time restrictions. Entry to the car park will close at 10am or once it's full, cars cannot exit until the last run has finished and everyone is off the course. Nottingham has a great public transport system, including buses and trams to Victoria Embankment.

HALF MARATHON & MINI MARATHON

RACE ENTRY

Half Marathon participants will need to be 17 years of age on race day.

Mini Marathon participants will need to be 4 years of age on race day. Any child under the age of 11 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, who must also enter the race via the entry system – failure to do so may cancel the child's entry. Please note that there is no upper age limit for any race.

To qualify for UKA Affiliated entry, your running club must be recognised via the UKA Governing Body. For a list of the Affiliated clubs located in the UK, please click here. If your club is missing from the list please contact us: info@goldlineevents.co.uk

By signing up to be a Guaranteed Fundraiser you commit to raising a minimum of £50 for our headline charity, Cancer Research UK. As a thank you from us you will receive £5 off your Half Marathon race entry fee. Your details will be passed to Cancer Research UK so they can contact you and support your fundraising.

We will request evidence of your fundraising and failure to do so may result in your race pack being delayed. If you don't raise the minimum fundraising amount you may be asked to pay £5 back before your race pack is issued.

If your entry has been success you will receive your payment confirmation from Stripe and an entry confirmation from Goldline Events with your race reference number. Please keep a safe copy of your reference numbers as you will need them in the future. You can also log into your profile to see if your entry was successful.

If your deferral from 2020 is successful your entry inside your profile will be tagged as ‘Deferred to 2021’. Please note this will not happen immediately, if you cannot see ‘Deferred to 2021’ on your entry by December 2020 please email info@goldlinevents.co.uk

Entries for 2021 will close approx. a month before the race or earlier if a race is full. Please check the website and social media channels for updates on 2021 entries closing.

No. We cannot accept entries to the Half Marathon, Mini Marathon or Corporate Challenge on the day on the race.

Yes. However to ensure your safety and the safety of other participants, please email: info@goldlineevents.co.uk so we can ensure you are allocated a suitable start zone.

If you get an injury, we recommend you go to your GP and/or a physiotherapist for advice. Hopefully your injury will recover and you will be able to take part.

However, if it does not and you are unable to participate you can apply to defer your entry. To apply for a deferral to 2022, please go to the Deferral Request page on the website to submit your appplication.

RACE PACKS

Race Pack Collections: Race packs, including your race number, baggage label and merchandise (if ordered) will be available for collection from the Race Bib Collection tent at the Race Village during the following times:

Friday 24th September 3.30pm-6.30pm

Saturday 25th September 9.30am-4pm

Race Pack Posted: If you requested your race pack to be posted to you should receive your race pack by the following dates: If you entered before the 8th August 2021 we expect you to receive your race packs week commencing 23rd August 2021. If you entered between 8th August and 5th September 2021 we expect you to receive your race packs week commencing 13th September 2021.

Please note your race pack will be sent to the address you have provided on your entry form.

All Corporate Challenge race packs will be posted to the team leader directly.

All Nottingham Mile Challenge Rack Packs (which will include your race number, luggage tag and t-shirt) will be available for collection only from the Race Bib Collection Tent at the Race Village on Friday 24th September 3:30pm – 6:30pm or from 9:30am on Saturday 25th September.

No, you will have to collect your race pack from the Help Desk situated in the Race Village. Please remember to bring a copy of your race entry confirmation email with a form of ID.

Yes, if your entry has not been processed. Please log into your profile and change your details.

Please Note: If your pack has already been processed then you will not be able to amend your details. Please try to collect your race pack from your previous address or arrange for it to be forwarded to you. If this is not possible then please come to the Help Desk in the Race Village with your proof of entry (confirmation email) and photo ID (driving license or passport). The Help Desk opening times can be found in the Race Village section of these FAQ's.

Please do not worry, you will be able to pick up a replacement  pack during the weekend of the race from the Help Desk. The Help Desk opening times can be found in the Race Village section of these FAQ's. To have another pack re-issued you must bring proof of entry, this can be a confirmation email and photo ID (driving licence or passport).

Yes, there is no need to panic if the number on your bib is different to your chip timing number. Please do not attempt to remove your timing chip as this may cause a technical error and risk it not working on race day. The most important thing is that the number on the envelope you received your race pack in matches the number on your race bib.

STARTING ZONES

The Half Marathon starts at: 9.30amThe Mini Marathon will start at 10am after the Half Marathon has started. Therefore, if you are running in the Half Marathon you will not be able to watch or participate the Mini Marathon.

All runners will be issued with a colour coded race number that reflects the estimated finish time you provided to us on your entry form. You can only start in the allocated colour/time zone that is shown on your race number. Please do not worry this will not affect your chip time, as your chip will start when you pass under the gantry so don't worry if it takes a while to get to the start line.

White: Elite

Yellow: Sub 1.40

Red: Sub 1.55

Blue: Sub2.05

Gold: Charity

Green: Sub 2.30

Orange: 2.30.00 Plus

Please note all start zone timings are subject to change.
Sub 1.40 means anyone who has a finisher time including and under 1 hour, 39 minutes and 59 seconds.

First Wave – Pink: Age 11 & over (including corporate challenge mini marathon runners).

Second Wave – Black: Age 10 & Under (plus accompanying adults).

Please make sure you start in your allocated zone, failure to do so will result in disqualification in the Schools Challenge Results. All competition results for the Schools Challenge will be based on your gun time and NOT your chip time.

No, we are afraid you must stick to your allocated colour zone, you can move to the front/back of your zone depending on your fitness level.

All starting zones will be clearly sign posted with coloured flags. All zones will be marshalled, please note that if you try to enter a different coloured zone to what is on your race bib you will be stopped by the marshal.

T-SHIRTS & MERCHANDISE

Your T-shirt will arrive with your race pack if you have ordered postage, we expect all runners to receive their race pack around two weeks before race day.If you have not ordered postage your T-shirt will be with your Race Bib when you collect it on Friday 24th or Saturday 25th September.

Yes, but T-shirts are subject to availability and will not be available for delivery and will only be available for collection from the Race Village.

Orders must be received by midnight, Sunday 5th September 2021 to be received before Race Week. After 5th September, orders can be placed subject to availability and collected from the Race Village Retail tent on Race Day.

Yes, there will be a number of T-shirts and Long sleeve tops available to purchase from the official merchandise tent in the Race Village. The Retail tent will be open from 9.30am to 4pm on Saturday 25th September 2021 and from 7am to 4pm Sunday 26th September 2021.

Yes, if you wish to exchange your T-shirt for a different size you may do so in the Race Village on Saturday 25th September 10am – 4pm and on Sunday 26th September from 7am. You must bring a copy of your proof of transaction which was emailed to you after your purchase.Please be aware that we do have a limited amount of stock available for each size and is based on a first come first served basis.

Your iTAB of your personal chip time will sent to you as a separate attachment to go on the back of your medal. All iTABs will be dispatched after the official race times have been confirmed, they will be mailed to your home address which was stated on your race entry form.

You can add an iTAB to your entry if your Race Pack has not been processed by going to the iTAB page on the website. 

If your Race Pack as been processed you can order an iTAB directly from iTAB. We will add the link to the iTAB page once all Race Packs have been processed.

There is a Baggage tent situated in the race village.
Your baggage label will be located within your race pack as a separate tag, this will be the same number as your race number. Place your tag in a prominent position. There are no showers or changing facilities available on site.

You'll find lots of activities and services in the race village including a retail tent, first aid, food and drink, VIP tent, massage and physio, toilets, help desk and a wide range of entertainment.

Yes, but please bear in mind that with over 13,000 runners and their supporters the race village will be extremely busy. Therefore, for the safety of your dog and other runners all we ask is that you keep them on a lead.

CORPORATE CHALLENGE TENT

All Corporate Challenge race packs will be delivered to the team leader at the addresses provided on entry.

The corporate challenge tent will have its own baggage drop of point, please hand you baggage to a member of staff. If you are running in the Half Marathon then all corporate challenger runners will start in the red zone. If you are running in the Mini Marathon then you will start in the PINK zone.

Your corporate challenge T-shirt will be within your race pack. This will be the size which was inputted on your entry.

Yes, if you wish to exchange your T-shirt for a different size you may do so at the corporate registration desk. Please be aware that we do have a limited amount of stock available for each size and is based on a first come first served basis.

Before the race we ask that you do not bring guests into the corporate tent, as there will be many teams registering and may be crowded. When registering, you will be given a wristband, please make sure you have this on you to be allowed back into the tent after the race. After the race, we will allow one or two guests with each runner, however, to enter they must be accompanied by the runner wearing the wristband.The refreshments within the tent are strictly for the runners only!

VIP TENT

Before entering the VIP tent you will need to collect your wristband from the registration table just outside the VIP tent.

Only VIP guests, who have paid for access to the VIP tent, will be given a guest wristband. If you are not a VIP runner or VIP guest then you will not be allowed access to the VIP area.

Yes, there is a baggage drop off area in the VIP tent. Make sure you physically hand your bag to a member of staff and not just leave it on the ground. Please note that you do leave your bags at your own risk and the organisers cannot be held responsible for any losses.

ROUTE

The Half Marathon course is 21K or 13.1miles. The Mini Marathon course is 2.5km or 1.5miles.

The course is flat/ undulating. While the race is run predominantly on the road, there are areas that are rougher and occasionally uneven; you may wish to consider the type of running shoes you wear particularly if it is wet.

There will be pace makers for the Half Marathon every 10 minutes.

Please note our pacers do their very best to hit their targets, they will be running to a chip time, not a gun time therefore please bear this in mind.

For health and safety reasons, we recommend earphones or any device which may impede hearing/listening to instructions both before and during the race are not used. Anyone seen wearing earphones may be asked to remove them and may be disqualified from the race.

Water and Energy drinks will be available around the Half Marathon course. Grab a bottle or pouch and sip slowly this will top up your energy levels to help you finish strong. Please ensure to stick to your pre-race hydration routine, please do not feel like you have to drink at every station.Water and Energy drinks will also be available on the finish line, these will help you rehydrate and kick start your recovery process post-race.

Yes medical services are located around both courses (including at every drinks station) and at the start and finish areas to ensure your safety.

Yes, there will be limited toilets are available at each drinks station.

Yes there are marshals at every road junction to ensure you go the right way and to cheer you on. Please note most of our marshals are volunteers.

Yes, in 2019 there were cheerleaders, bands and cheering points, look out for more of the same in 2021. Once we have our entertainment confirmed we will post a list of what you can find where on the route.

Yes, we will close the Half Marathon course at 1.30pm (4 running hours). This is a legal requirement to enable us to re-open the roads in the time agreed by the Emergency Services and Nottingham City Council.

Yes of course! However we recommend practising in your costume beforehand. If your outfit includes any other equipment other than clothing/shoes please get in touch with us as there may be other requirements to ensure the safety of other participants.

No. Participants are not permitted to use any of the above or similar in the event and those attempting to do so will be prohibited from starting and may be forcibly removed from the course mid-race where necessary. Likewise, anyone attempting to start or join the race in any outfit that we, in our absolute discretion, deem unsuitable and/or dangerous to other competitors or spectators, will not be allowed to start the event or, if on the course, may be forcibly removed from the event.

Yes, all finishers in all races who cross the finish line will get a medal! Please ensure to pick up your medal when you walk through our finish funnel. At the finish the runners will also receive water, a sports drink and a foil blanket.

The results will printed in the Nottingham Evening Post and on the website the following day. Please note the results will be provisional for at least 5 days

DEFERRALS

To apply for a deferral please click here.

If you protected your entry against cancellation when you booked you will receive a full refund on your entry provided you informed us before the race started. This covers all eventualities including if you want to cancel your entry for any reason, if the race is postponed and you can’t make the new date or if it is cancelled. If you did not protect your entry you can claim a partial refund if you cancel your entry before we start to process your race pack. To find out more go to the Cancellation & Refund Policy here 

No, under no circumstances can a runners number be transferred to someone else. 

We understand that last minute injuries and illness can occur, therefore, we will still be accepting deferral requests until Monday 8th October. However, please note that if you start in the race on the day and then pull out you will not be accepted for a deferral.

Once you have submitted your deferral online you should expect to receive a confirmation email that your request has been submitted. Please note this confirmation email does not mean that your deferral has been automatically accepted. Deferral applications will be processed by the end of December 2020. If you have not heard from us by the end of December 2020 please email info@goldlineevents.co.uk

Yes, if you were accepted for a deferral from 2020 your entry inside your profile will be tagged ‘Deferred to 2021’

No, all deferrals are only valid for one year from the originally year of entry and cannot be rolled over to the next year.
