Brain Tumour Research Announced As Headline Charity Partner For The Robin Hood Half Marathon
Brain Tumour Research has been named the headline charity partner for the iconic Robin Hood Half Marathon, strengthening the event’s long-standing commitment to supporting life-saving causes and community impact.
The partnership will see Brain Tumour Research take centre stage at this year’s event taking place on 27thSeptember, which attracts thousands of runners from across the city, county, UK and beyond. Funds raised will support the charity’s mission to accelerate research into brain tumours, a disease that kills more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet remains critically underfunded.
Brain Tumour Research recently announced their planned investment of £2.6 million in a new Centre of Excellence to be established at the University of Nottingham which will be dedicated to the studies of the deadliest form of adult brain cancer.
“Brain Tumour Research is a powerful and deserving headline charity partner for the Robin Hood Half Marathon,” said Judith Manson, Race Director. “Their work is vital, their message is compelling, and we’re proud to support their mission while bringing our running community together for such an important cause to coincide with the great things this charity is doing in Nottingham and beyond.”
Dr Karen Noble, Director of Research, Policy and Innovation at Brain Tumour Research will be running the race in September on behalf of the charity. Talking about the partnership, she said: “Being named headline charity partner for the Robin Hood Half Marathon is a hugely significant opportunity for Brain Tumour Research and for everyone affected by a brain tumour. This partnership comes at a pivotal time, as we prepare to launch a new £2.6 million Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence at the University of Nottingham at the end of January, dedicated to tackling glioblastoma – the deadliest form of adult brain cancer.
“Events like this unite communities in a shared determination to drive change. With the support of runners, supporters, and partners across Nottingham and beyond, we can accelerate pioneering research and move closer to the cure that is so desperately needed."
Taking place on 27th September 2026, participants will have the opportunity to run in support of Brain Tumour Research through charity places, their own self-funded places, by donating at the point of entry and on-the-day engagement activities. Supporters will also be invited to learn more about the charity’s work and how they can get involved beyond race day.
The Robin Hood Half Marathon is one of the UK’s most popular road races, known for its scenic city-centre route and strong charitable and community ethos. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for both organisations as they work together to make a lasting difference.
